I believed that I would be ahead of most nursing students and pass my first semester of nursing with flying colours. Therefore, I thought my background of biology and medicine would be useful for my nursing studies. In my first year of university I attended the faculty of biological and medical sciences at the University of Western Ontario. However, although enjoyable, this semester began as a struggle for me as I was not accustomed with having a heavy workload. I believed that since I would be in first year courses they would be rather general and less of an endeavour for me. As a transfer student with two previous years of university, I came into first year nursing courses believing that it would be less difficult than past years.
